IR35 – Employers No Longer Responsible For Determining The Employment Status Of Contractors
Posted in News, on October 4, 2022
As per previous updates, the Government caused alarm and confusion for employers in 2017 by making them responsible for determining the tax status of contractors- and for paying the contractors tax if they got the determination wrong.
That came with a muddled and unworkable test to determine whether someone was an employee. Many companies and organisations, including the APA, talk specialist tax advice in an effort to interpret it for our members.
Now those rules have been scrapped- it was in the mini-budget but attracted less attention than the tax cuts (some now cancelled) announced in it.
Below is a summary from Moore Kingston Smith accountants, and we also invite you to join our Instagram Live session (@apalondon) with them on 12th October at 11AM.
