We are excited to announce our latest partnership with the London Screen Academy to provide a mentorship programme for their students.
LSA is a sixth form academy for youths passionate about film production and storytelling. Its mission is to transform the lives of underrepresented youths, recruit a highly diverse student body, and provide a pathway to the UK screen industry.
The APA is committed to increasing representation in the commercials production industry, and your involvement in this initiative is vital to that goal.
About the Programme
LSA is dedicated to diversifying the film and TV industries by providing students with the practical skills and experience they need to succeed. As a mentor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of crew and creatives. Your expertise can make a significant impact on students who are eager to learn and grow.
The pairing process for mentors and mentees is designed to ensure that students are matched with professionals who can provide relevant insights. Each match is carefully curated based on your expertise and the interests and goals of the mentee, allowing for effective, practical guidance that aligns with the mentee’s chosen career paths.
What To Expect
Commitment:
1:1 Mentoring Sessions:
Ideally 5 sessions between January (start date TBC) and March 7th 2025 based on your availability.
In-person mentoring sessions are more effective; if you need to meet online, please discuss this with your mentee.
Mentoring sessions will take place on Tuesday mornings or Fridays (to be discussed with your mentee).
Work experience:
1 or 2 weeks, starting Monday 10th March and/or Monday, 17th March, depending on your preference.
Mentor Support: Each mentor will receive guidance and support from the LSA team to ensure the most beneficial experience for both you and your mentee.
Students’ ages: 18-19 years old.
Please note there are no mentor sign up costs for this programme.
You will be contacted in January to confirm your role as a mentor and to provide more details about your mentee.
